ZOMBIES...!!

I've always been a big fan of zombie stuff. I don't know, I guess it's because I enjoy how the authors imagine those apocalyptic scenarios where people face their extinction, most of times inflicted by themselves. In fact, sometimes I think that a zombie crisis could be a good way to fix this sick world. If you discern, try reading "World War Z", it's enlightening ha ha.

The things is, one day I went to my job and I got the news that we will be working in a zombie related show. AWESOME...!

Our client this time was HYUNDAI, sponsor of walking dead series as you know, and the experience was planned to be inside a car show.

When we got the idea, it was time to make some concepts for characters, spaces and environments, and it was my time to shine. >_>

We began to work in a concept that later mutated a bit so you will see some changes in the first approach and then the final product.

Our work was divided in three main spaces. Two exhibition stands and one live action experience related with one of 'em. The first stand was built with the official HYUNDAI brand and the second one with zombie stuff. Later on, when checking the cars at the infected one, you could get an invitation to participate in a mission to retrieve the zombie virus cure from an an old military facility in the quarantine zone with the help of a car stunt.

I think it went quite cool at the end, and most important, it was super-fun to made.

Obviously the project was bigger and there was much more people involved, creatives, industrial & graphic designers, production teams, planners, account and marketing teams, and a lot more. This is only a part of the project explained trough my working process.

The following are different phases of the project where I participated. At the end I leave you some pics and a video of how the show went.

I hope you enjoy it as we did!!

In the beginning, the place for the experience was planned to be a huge parking lot.
That changed... >_>

I did a storyboard of the experience for the people at HYUNDAI
These are some frames.

I also made concepts for the outfits that the people at the stand should be wearing.

And finally, I did a little survival guide that we gave as a gift
to the people who enlisted to live the experience.
Here are some pages.

So this is it, I leave you with some cool pics, they were taken by my friend and workmate Fidel Gutierrez (he is one of the creatives that worked on the project). There is also a video of a guy well known in Mexico who went to the car show and lived the experience.

The survival guide and the storyboard books.

The studio in charge of the zombies makeup was Go fx, they did an amazing job.

Time Machine #1 (Oldies gallery)

On weekend  I bought two new little book shelves at Home Depot (free ad) and after 2 years 1 month of living alone, I was finally able to unpack all my stuff forgotten in the deepest and darkest corner of my closet.

It was an epic adventure very similar to the ones lived by great legends like Bilbo Baggins & such. But don't worry, I'll keep the details for later...

It took me like six hours to reorganize a big amount of awesome books, comics, dvd's, and some action figures from the past. I had a great time, but the best part came when I found a large stack of old semi-dusty drawings :O

I say "old" not because I was very young at the moment I made them, but to the fact that some of them have 10 years of existence at least...By that time I used any tool could scribble and every paper I found to vomit all my concerns into it. Ps or Painter didn't figured out yet as you can guess.

In the end I chose a few that bring me cool memories and I'm sharing them with you. I really don't know when exactly I lost the path because I can see a powerful creativity feeling imprinted on them. Jeez! feeling old, being a grown up sucks >_>

Hope you enjoy them as I do.

The first one came out of a poem I read in school, I think the second one tries to be one itself.

I had a crush with an unreachable girl in high school
and this is how I felt about it xP

A girl I knew had an accident and fell into a coma for a very long time,
at the end she never woke up, sad story.

There was a time I fell in the claws of Ragnarok Online MMORPG.
It ruined my real life for a season but it was very very funny.

CREA key visual

Hi there folks and happy new year! >_>

Last year I took part on a cool small project with a team of workmates. The idea was to make a key visual to sell our company (CREA) to clients.

My friend Odei, who is an awesome 3D modeler & animator led the project. My part was to made the concept art and then my industrial design partners transported it to the third dimensional world. The result was very cool and turned out to be a quite funny experiment.

Each letter of the acronyms of "CREA" represents visually an actual area of the company, show production, corporation, the creative area (were I belong c:) and BTL publicity.

I invite you to judge it by yourselves :)

There it is the concept art, some early details and below the final product.

Peace...

Live drawing workshop!

Not so far from now I began to attend to a live drawing workshop because I started to feel kind of rusty. Now it has turned into some sort of personal ritual to fight the boredom of my professional life ha ha.

The "class" last about two hours so there is no much time to apply so many details, however, I'm trying to improve my technique to finish each dawing better.

Here are my favorite pieces till now, there's  a bunch of 'em so I hope you don't get overwhelmed.
