ZOMBIES...!!

I've always been a big fan of zombie stuff. I don't know, I guess it's because I enjoy how the authors imagine those apocalyptic scenarios where people face their extinction, most of times inflicted by themselves. In fact, sometimes I think that a zombie crisis could be a good way to fix this sick world. If you discern, try reading "World War Z", it's enlightening ha ha.

The things is, one day I went to my job and I got the news that we will be working in a zombie related show. AWESOME...!

Our client this time was HYUNDAI, sponsor of walking dead series as you know, and the experience was planned to be inside a car show.

When we got the idea, it was time to make some concepts for characters, spaces and environments, and it was my time to shine. >_>

We began to work in a concept that later mutated a bit so you will see some changes in the first approach and then the final product.

Our work was divided in three main spaces. Two exhibition stands and one live action experience related with one of 'em. The first stand was built with the official HYUNDAI brand and the second one with zombie stuff. Later on, when checking the cars at the infected one, you could get an invitation to participate in a mission to retrieve the zombie virus cure from an an old military facility in the quarantine zone with the help of a car stunt.

I think it went quite cool at the end, and most important, it was super-fun to made.

Obviously the project was bigger and there was much more people involved, creatives, industrial & graphic designers, production teams, planners, account and marketing teams, and a lot more. This is only a part of the project explained trough my working process.

The following are different phases of the project where I participated. At the end I leave you some pics and a video of how the show went.

I hope you enjoy it as we did!!

In the beginning, the place for the experience was planned to be a huge parking lot.
That changed... >_>

I did a storyboard of the experience for the people at HYUNDAI
These are some frames.

I also made concepts for the outfits that the people at the stand should be wearing.

And finally, I did a little survival guide that we gave as a gift
to the people who enlisted to live the experience.
Here are some pages.

So this is it, I leave you with some cool pics, they were taken by my friend and workmate Fidel Gutierrez (he is one of the creatives that worked on the project). There is also a video of a guy well known in Mexico who went to the car show and lived the experience.

The survival guide and the storyboard books.

The studio in charge of the zombies makeup was Go fx, they did an amazing job.

#IlustradoresConAyotzinapa

Since the shameful events around the disappearance and killing of more than 43 students of Ayotzinapa carried out by Mexican authorities in alliance with criminal groups at Guerrero, México. A group of illustrators began a campaign to show concern and discontent in social media using images of the faces and names of the students .The idea is to avoid anonymity of the victims and to demand justice to the government.

Hundreds of contributions are now being collected at: http://ilustradoresconayotzinapa.tumblr.com/

So go take a look and help us make this atrocity of international domain. This things can't go on in this country...

There is a big amount of information in the net if you have interest in knowing what's happening and I leave you some links that could help understand this phenomenon.

Time Machine #1 (Oldies gallery)

On weekend  I bought two new little book shelves at Home Depot (free ad) and after 2 years 1 month of living alone, I was finally able to unpack all my stuff forgotten in the deepest and darkest corner of my closet.

It was an epic adventure very similar to the ones lived by great legends like Bilbo Baggins & such. But don't worry, I'll keep the details for later...

It took me like six hours to reorganize a big amount of awesome books, comics, dvd's, and some action figures from the past. I had a great time, but the best part came when I found a large stack of old semi-dusty drawings :O

I say "old" not because I was very young at the moment I made them, but to the fact that some of them have 10 years of existence at least...By that time I used any tool could scribble and every paper I found to vomit all my concerns into it. Ps or Painter didn't figured out yet as you can guess.

In the end I chose a few that bring me cool memories and I'm sharing them with you. I really don't know when exactly I lost the path because I can see a powerful creativity feeling imprinted on them. Jeez! feeling old, being a grown up sucks >_>

Hope you enjoy them as I do.

The first one came out of a poem I read in school, I think the second one tries to be one itself.

I had a crush with an unreachable girl in high school
and this is how I felt about it xP

A girl I knew had an accident and fell into a coma for a very long time,
at the end she never woke up, sad story.

There was a time I fell in the claws of Ragnarok Online MMORPG.
It ruined my real life for a season but it was very very funny.
These characters are from the game.

New Look!!

Hi friends! I'm very happy to announce the official release of the brand new style for this awesome place randomly called Genetic Anarchy! So please feel free to re-explore it's dusty rooms once again, they are filled with cool stories and badass heretic illustrations.

I've used the last of my web design abilities left to improve some sections as you'll see. Now you can easily follow this mad man duty day to day in social networks and check his updated professional portfolio with the help of the beautiful award winning icons I've created for this specific purpose. Look for them in the right column of the blog right below the profile stuff.

I also worked on a new illustration for this special occasion, the one that goes above everything (yeah, just like god). "Header" the experts call it. So if you are feeling curious about it I leave you some process as usual.

You have to know that I'm so glad and grateful for the time you spend reading all the crap that slips out of my brain. I really love to create things and it's awesome to believe that maybe someone could enjoy them.

I send you my finest good vibes and hope you greatness.

Be More...

I'm not very used to make fanart about other people characters, but today I finished my work early and decided to send directly to hell the tradition and did a quick illustration of a character of one the best cartoon shows in history of mankind.

It was done totally in illustrator, no sketch, so I leave you a pair of captures of my process.

Hope you like!

Enjoying the little things, Office edition v.2

Hi dudes! today I brought you some examples of semi-cool projects I did last year at my actual job, yipee...!

I still consider that most of the projects where I participate day to day are quite boring, it's my eternal inner battle between designing generic stuff and illustrate, but here are some few that I really enjoyed to do and I'm happy to share with you.

The applications are quite different one to another as you'll see.

Regards friends!

This was a dancing event organized by the Mexico City government.
This graphic was planned to be on some city walls and it was totally designed by me.

This was a gift card we sent to our clients at Philip Morris Mexico because of the "Día de los muertos" celebration.
Again, all the elements were designed by me.

This is a concept illustration of the costumes that workers of CABLEVISION (T.V. company)
had to wear in different seasons of the year to promote the services they offer.

This is a mascot sketch for "CONADE" (Mexico's National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport).
I also made the logo on his shirt.

This is a concept for an installation in a mall about the Three Kings Day.

These two illustrations and a few more were made for an internal presentation  for Marlboro brand,
they worked as a storyboard to explain the consumer journey inside a party.

Finally these are character concept designs for a parade organized by Mexico city government on Children's Day.
They all live in a steampunk world :)

An irish airman foresees his death / MIKE TATTOO

This is one of the most exciting experiments I have done for a while as an illustrator and the first of its kind.

The whole thing began when my friend Mike, who is an avid reader and a talented creative guy who works in advertising, was looking to fill the blank spaces of himself with another special image. Yeah dudes! he asked me to made him a tattoo design for his forearm, badass...!

The whole concept came out of a poem by W. B. Yeats named "An Irish Airman Foresees His Death", which is Mike`s favorite poem. I really liked it because of the meditation around life and death in relation with the war. I believe it's a honest thinking within a fucked up political situation, which is very tragic at the end.

This time I worked the pencils and ink on paper first and then finished them in PS. I leave you the Inked drawing and some process. Hope you like!

I still can't believe that Mike scratched his skin with a draw I made...haha

 First sketch

I also made a separated layer to help the tattoo artist understand
the color construction. It looks cool isn't it?

 Final sketch

Aaaaawesome! :D

This is the original poem by W. B.Yeats if you are feeling curious.

I know that I shall meet my fate,
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love;
My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

CREA key visual

Hi there folks and happy new year! >_>

Last year I took part on a cool small project with a team of workmates. The idea was to make a key visual to sell our company (CREA) to clients.

My friend Odei, who is an awesome 3D modeler & animator led the project. My part was to made the concept art and then my industrial design partners transported it to the third dimensional world. The result was very cool and turned out to be a quite funny experiment.

Each letter of the acronyms of "CREA" represents visually an actual area of the company, show production, corporation, the creative area (were I belong c:) and BTL publicity.

I invite you to judge it by yourselves :)

There it is the concept art, some early details and below the final product.

Peace...
