#YoSoy132 / #iam132

Last June 10th I went out to the street with my friends and other 90,000 students as a way to protest against the presidential candidate Enrique Peña Nieto and the television network "Televisa" that wants to impose him as our new president with a huge amount of lies, misinformation and media manipulation.

You may not know but the political party he belongs to is famous of enrich themselves with public founds, of making partnership with drug cartels and to use force power to silent critic voices as they did in 1968 with the Tlatelolco students massacre, the 1995 Aguas blancas slaughter and in 2006 with the Atenco repression where dozens of peasants where beaten up and all the women where raped.

We made a long walk across the Mexico city downtown that seemed more like a cultural party where you could see art manifestations everywhere.

For this special event I made a large artwork of Peña Nieto standing in a big pile of dirt, intestines and blood. Also he's wearing a ripped Mexican flag and in top of his head there is the Televisa logo as a halo. I wanted to illustrate him as a sort of twisted fucked up saint.

If you are interested in gather more information about the #YoSoy132 movement, I leave you a link to an article of the UK The Guardian that explains very well the very essence of the situation in our country.

Peace!
