"IlustrAndo" / UAM Xochimilco university illustrators showcase

The managing office of graphic design career at my university, UAM Xochimilco, Mexico city, developed for first time in history a cool compendium of graduate students now living as pro illustrators. The project took shape in a beautiful publication made by students as well and to celebrate it, an exhibition took life inside the noble institution halls.

It was awesome to share pages with close friends, some of my teachers and other interesting illustrators.

I leave you some pics of the catalog and some of the exhibition opening.

Hope yo like them!

"NUX" Mad Max: Fury Road fan art

So "Mad Max: Fury Road" was a hell of a movie, I can't remember if I even blink once ha ha.

Something cool that is still happening in social networks is the vast number of illustrators and artists uploading a piece of fan art trying to make it their own.

It's understandable I think, the movie it's impressing and visually outstanding so I decided to make my own contribution a few weeks ago.

My favorite character was Nux. I think all the cosmogony of this apocalyptic world with all its originality and complexity it's perfectly resumed in this one character.

I didn't try to made a portrait of the actor (Nicholas Hoult), but rather work with the impression that the character leave in me.

So here it is the final sketch, some process, details and the final product, it was a fun thing to do and the perfect excuse to draw more >_>.

Witness me!!

Mi valedor / Zero year

"Mi valedor" magazine is a freakin' cool project developed by a group of girls living in Mexico city and it has recently came out to light with the help of "fondeadora" page (latin version of "kickstarter").

The whole thing works around the idea of making a partnership with homeless people to distribute the mag in streets generating an economic income for them. The main topics of the mag as you'll see are city life, street culture and art.

For the first issue called "año cero" (zero year), my friend María (Mi valedor ceo) asked me if I could help them making an infographic illustration trying to explain how the mag works. I accepted gladly.

I highly recommend you to go take and a look to this awesome project, it's a real window of our cool, monstrous and colorful city. Also you will be able to enjoy the beautiful photos of my friend Delphine Tomes, and illustrations by my pal Humberto Castillo.

If you want to gather more info about it go check its home here.

I leave you some photos of my process creating the spread and the final result.

Peace bros...
